Gemini Wolf is a two-headed musical monster that has been experimenting on stage and in the studio since 2007. Sonic architects, songwriters, improvisers and singers Pandar and Mikronesia have lead the band through various incarnations along the way. They have collaborated with some of the finest musicians in Philadelphia including Jimmy Coleman (John Legend, Eric Hutchinson), Carlos Santiago (Normal Love), Gary Dann (Digable Planets) and Elliot Levin (Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor). From afro-beat shamanic krautrock to ambient post-folk noise Gemini Wolf is never satisfied staying within one sound or style for too long.
Each album and tour are built on an expanded and infinitely evolving spectrum of sound. Primarily performing as a duo of keyboards, guitar, samplers and voice, but also being augmented with drums, percussion, strings and horns. Gemini Wolf have played clubs, theaters, galleries and warehouse spaces in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Baltimore, Portland, Raleigh Duram, London, Paris and Berlin. Their sets change depending on the venue, sometimes they’ll perform a raucous psychedelic rock set, a seamless dancey avant pop set or a word-less ambient drone atmospheric soundscape. Gemini Wolf’s unpredictability and flexibility as duo, trio, quintet and beyond have kept them busy over years playing over 75 shows since 2007. They have also hosted the international open-media music and video series SHARE in their hometown of Philadelphia since 2010. This international series hosted in cities around the world has brought numerous touring acts to town and given a stage for up and coming electronic musicians and video artists to cut their teeth with SHARE’s “open-mic” format.

Their latest release on earSnake records is Infinite Sand Dunes (ESR022). This album was released on clear vinyl with custom artwork and packaging (designed by Pandar) in the spring of 2011. The album is split into two halves. The first section features four songs that fold into one another. Punctuated by tribal percussion, beds of electronic noise and eerie sung and spoken vocals these songs weave a hazy dark tale of the impending resource wars and the psychosis created by a human race exposed to all while feeling nothing. Side 2 delves into more of the subconscious valleys of the first side of the record. This instrumental second side is inspired by the structure of David Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy master pieces, Low and Heroes along with Brian Eno’s Another Green World. Through spacey krautrock, broken beats, autoharp, evaporated samples and hazy analog synthesizers side 2 of Infinite Sand Dunes can be listened to on its own or a cathartic release to the built up tension from Side 1. The album was written and mostly recorded in a weekend long writing, hiking and recording session in the largest desert on the East Coast. The eerie isolated setting helped shape much of the sound of Infinite Sand Dunes.
